Dust ruffles
Because of the special ways we make them, dust ruffles fit beautifully.
When assembling a duster, an over lock stitch is used to keep the edges from fraying and a safety stitch is used for strength. Remember to order dust ruffles not only for custom comforters and coverlets, but also for custom bedspreads. They provide a decorative covering for the box spring, keeping it from being exposed when the bed coverings are pulled back.

Lined dust ruffles use our stock lining in white or ivory only. Tailored dust ruffles are made with 2 corner pleats only, box pleated dust ruffles, have 4” box pleats standard, but you can specify any size you want, such as 5 total pleats, or 12” wide box pleat. Accurately Measuring for Dust Ruffles:
This guide will help you measure your box spring to determine which bed skirt size to order. To measure a box spring accurately, use a fabric measuring tape and follow the instructions below.
Measuring the actual box spring is important for a proper fit. Many box springs are smaller than the mattress.
- Determine box spring width:
Using the tape, measure the box spring from the left edge to right edge. This is the box spring width.
- Determine box spring height:
Next, measure the box spring from head of the bed to the foot of the bed. This is the box spring length.
- Determine bed skirt drop:
Finally, measure from the top of the box spring to just above the floor or carpet (or where you want the bottom edge
the dust ruffle to sit). This is the bed skirt drop. WE DO NOT MAKE ALLOWANCES FOR FLOOR CLEARANCE.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
- 4 Poster Beds or Beds with Footboards
Options Available:
- 2 Split Corners - This will work on most beds with a footboard. The dust ruffle will cover the side rails and will fall behind the footboard. Keep in mind that the foot drop may be shorter than the side drops by approximately 1" because the side drop has to come out and over the wood rails.
- Velcro Attached for Poster Bed or Daybed - Use this option when you want the side rails exposed but the wood slats prevent the use of a conventional dust ruffle. There is no decking on this style. One side of the self-adhesive Velcro is sewn onto the skirt and the other will adhere to most wood or metal surfaces. On a Poster Bed, the ruffle would be applied to the underside of the frame, therefore the Velcro would be on the front of the dust ruffle. When using this option include the following information: Is Velcro on front or back? Should ruffle be made in 1 continuous piece or in 3 pieces? The drop dimension will include the 1" band of Velcro.
- Daybeds
Options Available:
- 2 Split Corners - This will work on most Daybed Frames.
- Velcro Attached for Poster Bed or Daybed - You may want to use this option when there is no box spring or when the frame is larger that the mattress. One side of the self-adhesive Velcro is sewn onto the skirt and the other will adhere to the metal or wood frame. On a daybed, the ruffle would be applied to the outside of the frame and the Velcro would be on the back of the dust ruffle. Include the following information: Is Velcro on front or back? Should ruffle be made in 1 continuous piece or in 3 pieces? Drop dimension will include the 1" band of Velcro.
- Electric Beds
Options Available:
- Use the option Velcro Attached for Electric Bed. To install the dust ruffle over the bar at the foot of an electric bed, an opening is made between the deck and the front drop. It reattaches with Velcro. Take exact measurements of the placement of the bar and draw a diagram.
